The town of Rawson is located south of Puerto Madryn and very close to the city of Trelew.

Located at the mouth of the Chubut River, it represents the administrative political center of this Patagonian province.

Playa Magagna

As for spas, the town has the most popular Union beach and there is also the option to visit Magagna beach, located 12 km from Rawson. It is a complex of four beaches: Bonita, El Faro, Cangrejales Norte and Cangrejales Sur, all south of the mouth of the Chubut River. The most widespread activity in the place is "pulping", that is, the extraction or fishing of octopus.

Punta Tombo

It is the ideal site for the sighting of Magellanic penguins between the months of September and April, since they choose this place of the Argentine Patagonian coast to reproduce and prolong the species. It is located just over 100 kilometers from the city of Rawson taking National Route No. 25 and immediately Provincial Route No. 1.

Whoever approaches this natural paradise will enjoy a unique spectacle impossible to find in another strip of the continent, being able to observe for seven months the Magellan penguin colony that develops its life normally before the gaze of countless tourists who arrive to Punta Tombo

Centro Cultural José Hernández

A cultural reservoir in all its expressions. This space located on the boulevard of Av. Galina, was founded in 1976 and has in its building a multipurpose room where the most diverse artistic-cultural activities have been developed.

It invites you to enjoy exhibitions of majestic works of regional and national plastic artists; artistic encounters; music festivals; plays, film screening, and everything that can be an enjoyable cultural exhibition in a closed space.

Museo Regional Salesiano

This Museum gathers the history of the town from the solitude of the indigenous communities, and the subsequent arrival of Welsh immigrants, until today. It is located at 248 Don Bosco Street, after the Chapel.

The building, opened in 1941, has a room divided into eight sections, and tries to keep alive the memory of the missionary order that gives it its name. The circuit begins at the beginning, exposing objects belonging to the Tehuelches and Mapuches that dominated the area before the conquest of the Spaniards in the central hall. Then there are testimonies of the arrival of the colonizers, the foundation of the port of San José and the Fort subsequently destroyed by an indigenous attack.

There are also fossil remains, specimens of embalmed animals and fauna, objects that accompanied the urban development of the town, religious images, an important collection of coins, bills and medals, and stones of Patagonia.

Zoo

Finally, the city has a Patagonian Biodiversity Conservation Center located on the banks of the Chubut River. This place, with a charming property, is the ideal place to visit with the family and spend the day in contact with nature.

The Center is constituted by a unique zoo, where native and exotic species coexist; an old grove that colors the landscape; replicas of the ship "Mimosa" that brought the first Welsh to these floors, and the San José chapel, representative of the area; and children's games and stoves that make fun.

This cultural and recreational space, which is located in the access to the city on National Route No. 25, and is open to the public every day of the year. It appears among the first tourist destinations in the city of Rawson, attracting numerous tourists and residents.
